Why This Site Exists
I started tracking HRV because a podcast made it sound simple. It wasn't. My first device didn't work with the app I'd downloaded. The "beginner guide" I found was 4,000 words of autonomic nervous system theory. I spent more time confused than informed.
HRV Zone grew out of that frustration. The science behind heart rate variability is solid and genuinely useful — but the way most of it gets explained is terrible. Too much jargon, too many hedged statements, not enough "here's what to actually do on Monday morning."
So that's what this site tries to be: the resource I wish existed when I started.
What We're About
We test devices ourselves before writing about them. We don't take sponsorship money, and we say so when an affiliate link is involved. If a $90 chest strap outperforms a $300 wearable for your use case, we'll tell you that.
The guides here aim to be useful on day one, not just technically correct, but practically helpful. If you leave a page without knowing what to do next, we haven't done our job.
What We're Not
We're not doctors. Nothing on this site is medical advice. We're not affiliated with any device manufacturer or app developer.
We do have opinions, sometimes strong ones, and we try to back them up with research. When the evidence is thin or mixed, we say so. When a product is great, we say that too.
